Bath is a World Heritage Site and has a long history that can be traced back to the Mesolithic period. Before the Romans came to Bath evidence shows that the Roman Baths main spring was treated as a shrine by the Iron Age Britons. The Romans called the spa 'Aquae Sulis' meaning 'the waters of (the Goddess) Sulis'during AD60. The citys reputation as a healing destination carried forward to Georgian and Victorian times with the wealthy going there to refresh themselves with the spring water, and was granted city status by Royal charter by Queen Elizabeth I in 1590.

Bath is the ceremonial city in Somerset and has many attractions on offer to tourists and visitors. It is characterised by historical buildings and has some prestigious museums, galleries and landmarks.
