The London Borough of Brent is located North of Gatwick Airport a distance of around 56 miles a journey that would take around an hour by taxi via the M23 and M25. The major area of Brent is Wembley and neighbouring Boroughs are Barnet, Ealing and Harrow. The name is derived from the River Brent that runs through the Borough seperating Willesden and Wembley. Brent is a mixture of residential, commercial and industrial land.
In 1801 the population of the area was 2,022 and this rose slowly throughout the 19th Century with the arrival of the railways and it peaked in the 1960s when industry began to relocate from London, according to 2011 statistics the population was at 311,200. Brent is comprised of the neighbourhoods of Alperton, Brondesbury, Cricklewood, Church End, Dollis Hill, Harlesden, Kensal Green, Kenton, Kilburn, Kingbury, Neasden, Preston, Stonebridge, Sudbury, Tokyngton, Twyford & Park Royal, Uxendon, Wembley and Willesden.
There are plenty of cultural activites in the borough to try such as the popular Tricycle Theatre, Gaumont State Cinema - once the worlds largest cinema and landmark of Kilburn for the last 70 years and Kensal Rise Library - opened by Mark Twain in 1900. The Queen's Park Farmers Market was voted the best farmers market in the Uk of 2012 and Roundwood Park is an excellent choice to make if you want to go for a walk in this Victorian Park that has renovated facilities and a cafe in the grounds.
