The town of Broxbourne is located in the Borough of Broxbourne, the New River runs through the borough and was constructed in the 17th Century to take drinking water from local springs to London by Hugh Myddelton. The town contains the 15th Century St Augustines Church and Broxbourne Mill which was mentioned in the Domesday book. The manor was held in the time of Edward the Confessor by Stigand, the Archbishop of Canterbury, but had passed into Norman hands following the Conquest.

There are a number of attractions and leisure activities in the town including a footpath from St Augustines Church that leads to the Broxbourne conservation area and the New River Heritage Trail. Other places of interest to visitors include Lea Valley Boat centre, Lea Valley Regional Park, Broxbourne Woods and Paradise Wildlife Park.
