Overview of Chiddingfold

The beautiful village of Chiddingfold is located West of Gatwick airport a distance of 31 miles that would take around 47 minutes by taxi via the M23 and A283. Chiddingfold is located in the county of Surrey, between Milford and Petworth.

Chiddingfold became famous for its glass-making - during the reign of Elizabeth I, there were no fewer than eleven glass works on the green. Chiddingfold glass was used in some of the finest buildings in the land, including St Stephen's Chapel, Westminster, and St George's Chapel, Windsor. Today, St Mary's Church, The Crown Inn (a 14th-Century pub), a forge, a pond, shops and cottages lie on three sides of a large village green. The village is known locally for its torchlit procession, bonfire and fireworks display on a Saturday evening closest to November 5 (Guy Fawkes Day).

The main attractions in this quaint and peaceful village are the village church and pub, though if you enjoy walking there is plenty of fabulous scenery to explore in the surrounding hills and woodland. Following this outdoor theme, Golf can be enjoyed at the award winning Cowdray Park Golf Club or Fishing on the River Rother. Stables can also be found locally and the National Trust's Winkworth Arboretum is within easy distance of the village.
