Overview of Duxford

The town of Duxford is located North of Stansted airport a distance of 145 miles that would take around 2 hours and 30 minutes by taxi via the M11 and A1. It is located in Cambridgeshire, 10 miles from Cambridge and has a population of 1,836 according to the 2001 Census.

It was known as Dukeswrthe in the 10th Century named after a tribal chief, and from medieval times has had the unusual feature of having two parish churches. It is famous for its Imperial War Museum and has many exciting exhibits with fifty working aircraft and holds popular air shows. Other attractions in the village include The Royal Anglian Regiment Museum, Duxford Chapel that dates from the 14th Century and Linton Zoo. There is an Iron Age hillfort at Wandlebury Country Park that also offers beautiful woodland nature trails.
