Overview of Farnborough
The town of Farnborough is located North West of Gatwick airport a distance of 45 miles that would take around 50 minutes by taxi via the M25 and M3. It is situated in Hampshire and part of the district of Rushmoor. Nearest towns are Aldershot, Fleet and Farnham and the town has a population of 57,147 according to the 2001 Census.
The towns history mainly centres around the Aviation industry but there are other traces of older times in and around the town. Such as the Sarsen stones that still feature on Tower Hill this stone comprises of many megalithic sites found in Britain. In the Imperial Crypt of St. Michael's Abbey Napoloeon III lies with his wife and son. In the town there is Farnborough Airfield which is the site of the historic Royal Aircraft Establishment.
The town has a number of attractions and events, such as the Queens Parade, Farnborough Airshow, Airborne Forces Museum and the Cathedral Church of St Michael and St George.
