The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham is located East of Heathrow Airport a distance of around 13 miles a journey that would take around 20 minutes by taxi via the M4. It is situated in West London forming a part of inner London and has a population of 182,400 according to 2011 statistics.

The borough is located west of Chelsea and has has a mix of contrasting areas with expensive housing in Chelsea and Fulham and more affordable housing in Shepherds Bush and Acton. In 1960, the BBC opened the BBC Television Centre, and more recently the development of the Westfield shopping centre has attracted more retail businesses to the area aswell as the Paddington Basin also has brough wealth and employment to the area that is already popular with many international corporations. There are plenty of facilities for shoppers such as King Street in Hammersmith, Fulham Broadway and Shepherds Bush Market. The numerous pubs and bars attract residents and visitors alike and the area has a number of music venues for live music such as Shepherds Bush Empire, Bush Hall and Hammersmith Apollo.

There are some places of historic interest that are of importance to tourists such as Fulham Palace-the former reatreat of the Bishops of London, William Morris Society Museum and the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith. Some enjoyable ways to take in the sights of the area are by visiting the Furnivall Gardens near Hammersmith Bridge and the London Wetland Centre which was created over a disused Victorian Reservoir and has over 180 species of birds making it an ideal place for birdwatchers and walkers.
