Overview of Harrow

The London Borough of Harrow is located South of Luton airport a distance of 23 miles that would take around 35 minutes by taxi via the M1. Situated in Northwest London it borders Hertfordshire to the North and the London boroughs of Hillingdon, Ealing, Brent and Barnet and has a population of 240,500 according to 2011 statistics.

The borough has a multi-cultural atmosphere with a diverse mix of cultures, and holds a yearly festival in July to celebrate called the Under One Sky which has Live Music and exotic foods to try. Harrow is renowned for its world-famous School located in Harrow on the Hill a beautiful and historic village that boast some interesting architecture and up market restaurants. Harrow was also the nerve centre for the Battle of Britain in World War II and is still home to the fabulous country retreat of W.S. Gilbert of Gilbert & Sullivan fame. The Harrow Heritage trails that are on offer provide an educational guided tour which take in Pinner, Hatch End, Harrow-on-the-Hill and Grim's Dyke.

The borough also has a wide range of open spaces, leisure facilities and recreational parks such as Harrow Golf Course, Playgolf Northwick Park, Wembley Stadium, Bentley Priory Circular Walk and Harrow Leisure Centre. For Shoppers St Georges or St Ann's Shopping Centres are located in the central town of Harrow, Pinner High Streets has a lovely range of craft shops and boutiques and the Duck Pond Market is held monthly at Harrow Museum that sells fresh seasonal produce. A new addition to the area is the Westfield Shopping centre that caters for designer brands and is easy to reach by train.
