The London Borough of Hillingdon is located North of London City airport a distance of 25 miles that would take around an hour by taxi via the A40. It is the westernmost borough in Greater London and has a population of 275,500 according to 2011 statistics.
Hillingdon is the second largest borough in London with both urban and rural areas comprising of 17 districts and 800 acres of woodland. It was a significant local commercial centre from an early time and this has continued as today there is a good level of employment due to Heathrow Airport and the many large businesses that have their main offices located in the area. One of the main towns of Uxbridge is a significant retail and commercial centre and is the location of Brunel University and the Uxbridge campus of Bucks New University.
There are plenty of choices for visitors to the borough for recreational persuits such as the guided walks of the Hillingdon Trail and the Willow Tree Wander, outdoor and indoor sports activites at one of the many leisure centres, such as Botwell Green Sports and Leisure Centre and Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex, Shopping facilites such as Uxbridge Shopping Centre and choose from one of the many parks and open spaces or historical manor houses.
