Overview of Frimley
The town of Frimley is located Southwest of Heathrow Airport a distance of 23 miles that would take around 30 minutes by taxi via the M25 and M2. It is situated in the West of Surrey in the Borough of Surrey Heath and next to the border or Hampshire and the nearest towns are Camberley, Hawley and Farnborough. It has a population of 12,739 according to the 2001 Census.
Its name is derived from the Saxon Fremma's Lea which means 'Fremma's Clearing'. It used to be a farming village and later was famed for being a coaching stop for travellers using the London to Portsmouth Road and using the town as a resting place.
The town is a great base for interest in the surrounding areas in Surrey and Hampshire, popular tourist attractions include the nearby St Michael's Abbey with community of Benedictine Monks, Frimley Lodge Park with miniature Railway and Canal, Yateley Country Park for scenic walks through the countryside.
