Overview of Lingfield
The town of Lingfield is located Southeast of Heathrow Airport a distance of 45 miles that would take around 50 minutes by taxi via the M25. It is situated in the Tandridge district of Surrey and has a population of 4,215 according to the 2001 Census.
The Collegiate Church of St Peter and St Paul dates back to the 14th Century and it contains some of the finest Brasses and Monuments in Southern England, the earliest church that was built on this site was in the Saxon period. The village originated from two small settlements the first being built up around the church and known as the old town and the second was the area of Playstowe that was firstmentioned in 1332 as the home of William ate Playstowe, an area of prosperous farms and thought to have been an area for play and sport.
The town is famous for its racecourse Lingfield Park and thrives in social and sporting activities. It has a busy high street with many local amenities and local attractions such as the British Wildlife Centre, Brookland Park and Kings Leisure Centre.
