The town of Leatherhead is located North West of Gatwick airport a distance of 20 miles that would take around 23 minutes by taxi via the M25. It is situated in Surrey on the River Mole and has a population of 9888 according to the 2001 Census. Nearest towns include Chessington, Epsom and Oxshott.

The town can be traced back to AD880 when the settlement was known as Leodridan meaning 'place where people can ride across the river'. The town grew into a market town at the time of Henry II in 1248. The town has been associated with notable people such as Edmund Tylney, Master of the Revels for Queen Elizabeth I and Sir Thomas Bloodworth of Thorncroft Manor who was Lord Mayor of London during the Great Fire of London in 1666.

There is plenty to do in and around Leatherhead for visitors, the town has a wide range of facilities such as Theatre/Cinema, Market, The Swan Shopping centre and High Street shops. The town centre holds a number of events throughout the year including St Georges Day, Leatherhead Drama Festival, Duck Racing on the River Mole among many more. The town is surrounded by the Surrey Hills with its landscapes, picturesque villages and historic houses and there are numerous historic parks and gardens such as Norbury Park, Ashtead Park and Polesden Lacey to visit in the surrounded areas.
