Overview of Medstead

The village of Medstead is located West of Gatwick airport a distance of 59 miles that would take around 1 hour and 11 minutes by taxi via the M25 and A31. It is located in the county of Hampshire and at over 700 above sea level it is one of the highest villages in the county.

Medstead is located about five miles West of Alton. The village has its own restored railway station on the Watercress Line, services from which connect with the nearest national rail station to the northeast, at Alton. It has an interesting Norman church and various other historical buildings and sites, including an iron age fort. Like many rural villages in the area, Medstead has grown a lot and nearly all of the many old 'colonial bungalows' have now been replaced with larger modern homes. Despite its seemingly sleepy image, Medstead was one of the first villages in the country to get broadband and has an excellent range of local facilities, clubs and organisation's.

Medstead is ideally located to visit the sites and attractions in the surrounding Hampshire countryside, such as Jane Austen's House Museum in Alton, The Willis Museum in Basingstoke, INTECH Family Science Centre in Winchester, Marwell Zoological Park in Winchester and Winchester Cathedral.
