The London Borough of Merton is located Southwest of London City airport a distance of 16 miles that would take around 50 minutes by taxi via the A1011 and A3. It is an outer London borough in southwest London and has a population of 200,500 according to 2011 statistics.

The borough is mainly suburban but has a substantial amount of industry and commerce. Many residents commute in and out of central London, and it has five main town centres including Mitcham, Morden, Wimbledon, Colliers Wood and Raynes Park. The borough covers an area of 9,380 acres and a large portion of the area is open space, parks and nature reserves including Wimbledon and Mitcham Commons. Some famous figures that have lived in the borough include George Eliot, Thomas Becket, William Morris and Admiral Horatio Nelson and Lady Emma Hamilton lived together in Merton ParK.

Top places to visit are The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum which provides visitors with views over the Centre Court an ideal place to go for Tennis fans. Merton Abbey Mills is an arts and crafts village on the River Wandle that is a wonderful place for families having activites, shops, a market, Theatre and Restaurants. The River Wandle is a stunning place to walk and to admire the conservations areas such as Merton Park. Historically Lord Nelson fished there before winning the Battle of Trafalgar aswell as Frederick Halford the founder of modern fly-fishing.
