Therefore Stirling Castle has been very influential in shaping the history of Scotland. Several Major battles were fought around the site during the Wars of Scottish Independance in 1297. The castle was placed under seige several times.
Stirling is home to 41,243 people and as part of Her majesty the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations it was granted city status. It is a very haunted city, with the Settle Inn being one of the most haunted sites in Scotland. Other attractions include; The Church of Holy Rood (holy Cross) and the Wallace Monument (in memory of William Wallace).
